New Hope for Higher Education in Eastern Congo

A strategic partnership between African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries (ALARM) and Université Baptiste du Congo (UBC) is helping expand access to quality, Christ-centered higher education in Eastern Congo, bringing renewed hope to students and communities across North Kivu.

Since its establishment in 2018, UBC has been equipping young men and women to become ethical, servant leaders through accredited programs in Bible and Theology, Medicine, Law, Education, and Business Administration. With campuses in Goma and Rubaya, the university is committed to raising leaders who will contribute to peace, justice, and sustainable development in a region that continues to face significant challenges.

As student enrollment grew, UBC began constructing a new nine-classroom academic building in Goma. While the main structure was completed, progress stalled before the finishing phase due to funding shortages, leaving classrooms and the planned auditorium incomplete.

A major milestone came on March 24, 2026, when a generous contribution from ALARM partners enabled construction to resume. ALARM-Congo and UBC signed a Memorandum of Understanding to ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of the funds. Within just three weeks, the plastering phase of the building was successfully completed, demonstrating what can be achieved through faithful partnership and generous support.

Although significant progress has been made, important work remains before the facility can fully serve students. The project still requires electrical installation, interior and exterior painting, and floor tiling. Looking ahead, UBC also envisions adding a second floor to accommodate its growing student population and expand opportunities for future leaders.

Every contribution to this project is an investment in people. It helps prepare future doctors, pastors, teachers, lawyers, and business leaders who will bring healing, reconciliation, and transformation to communities across Eastern Congo.

ALARM is deeply grateful to every donor and partner whose generosity has made this progress possible. Together, we are building more than classrooms—we are creating opportunities, strengthening communities, and investing in a lasting legacy of hope for generations to come.
