Kenya: The Malindi Mixed Farming Project Update

The Malindi Mixed Farming Project has continued to reduce poverty in the communities and serves as a pay-it-forward project. Each beneficiary that receives a cow or goat is required to pass forward the first offspring to the next vulnerable member of the community. The program has a dairy plant that enables the beneficiaries to sell milk to the community. Despite the challenges of COVID-19, the dairy plant has survived and is still going strong. One of the beneficiaries, Doris, was given a cow in 2016 and has since then given away her first offspring and now gets 8 liters of milk per day which her family uses for income generation. Originally, the family had no domestic animal but now with the cows, they have experienced much change and growth in the family. “This is unity in the family”.
