The BURERA FOOD PRODUCTION AND EDUCATIONAL PROJECT (BFPEP) is pleased to share encouraging progress from our Burera Farming and Pig Rearing initiative, where sustainable agriculture and livestock development continue to transform lives and strengthen communities.
This quarter, 195 smallholder farmers successfully completed training in sustainable agriculture. Through practical, hands-on learning, participants gained valuable knowledge in soil conservation, crop management, and environmentally responsible farming practices. These skills are helping families increase food production, improve household nutrition, and build more resilient

Our pig-rearing program has also recorded significant milestones. We are grateful to God that 15 healthy piglets were born within the community during this quarter, demonstrating the continued success of the livestock initiative and the commitment of participating families to responsible animal husbandry.
Looking ahead with hope, we expect 20 additional piglets to be born in the ALAM pigs’ pen by the end of August 2026. These new piglets will strengthen the program’s “pass-it-forward” approach, creating opportunities for more families to receive livestock, improve their incomes, and contribute to the long-term well-being of their communities.

These achievements reflect more than numbers. They represent families gaining the knowledge to farm sustainably, households becoming more food secure, and communities working together to create lasting change. Every farmer trained and every piglet born is another step toward a future where families can provide for themselves with dignity and confidence.
We thank our partners, supporters, and community members for walking alongside us in this journey.
