From 21st–24th January 2026, ALARM and Église du Christ au Congo (ECC) conducted a reconciliation and leadership training for pastors serving in Rutshuru, North Kivu, one of the most conflict-affected regions in eastern DR Congo.
Forty pastors from diverse denominations participated, gaining practical, faith-based tools in conflict resolution, mediation, and forgiveness. For many, this training addressed not only congregational challenges, but deeply personal experiences of conflict and trauma. Participants testified to renewed clarity, emotional freedom, and confidence to lead their churches as agents of peace.

The impact extended beyond individual leaders. By fostering unity across denominational lines, the training strengthened the church’s collective witness and capacity to contribute to community stability. Pastors expressed a strong desire for expanded reconciliation programming, trauma healing support, and sustained accompaniment to deepen long-term impact.
This training reflects ALARM’s strategic commitment to grassroots peacebuilding: equipping trusted local leaders whose influence reaches families, congregations, and entire communities. Continued partnership will enable ALARM to scale this impact and respond to the urgent need for reconciliation and healing across eastern DR Congo.
