The Sewing Project was established to empower women following their graduation from the Women Leadership Training Institute (WLTI), where they gained skills and values of servant leadership and the role and strength of a woman in the community.
In Jenda Sector, Nyabihu District, a group of women, mainly single mothers, girls, and those from vulnerable families, formed the Humura Mugore Group. Rise Up Women International and ALARM Rwanda aim to support this group in transitioning from vulnerability to self-sustainability through income-generating activities. Beyond generating income for small businesses, the sewing vocational training program is designed to equip those women with practical tailoring skills. Through this training, they will be able to produce clothing for the local community while also offering sewing services and training to others nearby.

On 26th March 2026, sewing machines and materials were delivered to the site, and the training officially began on 30th March 2026. This marks a significant and joyful milestone. The program will run for one year, including six months of theoretical learning and six months of practical internship.

We acknowledge that only God can reward the efforts made by Rise Up Women International for its contribution and transformation of women’s lives in Rwanda. The project is warmly welcomed by the local authorities, and we sincerely thank you for your remarkable support toward the self-reliance of the Humura Mugore women’s group and the whole community of Nyabihu District.
