Food Distribution Brings Hope to Vulnerable Families in Bukavu

Food Distribution Brings Hope to Vulnerable Families in Bukavu

A spirit of unity, faith, and generosity filled the Free Methodist Church Headquarters in Bukavu as ALARM (African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries) partnered with the church to organize a food distribution event that touched the lives of many vulnerable families.

This initiative was more than just a humanitarian response, it was a demonstration of what faithful collaboration and community-centered service can achieve.

The success of this outreach was built on strong collaboration between ALARM and the Free Methodist Church. A joint committee oversaw the distribution process with integrity and transparency, ensuring fairness in identifying and supporting the beneficiaries. The church premises also served as a secure storage site the night before distribution, reflecting unity of purpose and trust.

The event began with heartfelt prayers and songs of worship. Leaders from both organizations emphasized gratitude and God’s faithfulness before distribution began.

A total of 60 families received food packages consisting of:

  • 25 kg of maize flour
  • 25 kg of rice
  • 7 kg of beans
  • 2 packets of salt
  • 5 liters of vegetable oil
  • Transportation back home

These rations will sustain each family for several weeks, providing nourishment, hope, and dignity.

Stories of Gratitude

The testimonies shared were deeply moving.

  • Abala Nepa, a widow, described the support as a miracle:
“Yesterday, I had only one meal left, which I shared with my neighbor, trusting God would provide. Today, I return home with more than I expected. May God bless the hands that gave this gift.”
  • Rev. Matabaro Lukanya, 81, expressed heartfelt appreciation:
“Since the crisis began, this is the first time I’ve received aid. It feels like manna from heaven.”
  • Rev. Bahati Itulamya Roger, 60, shared:
“We felt like orphans, but today, God has revealed Himself through this aid. ALARM has surprised us with generosity beyond what we imagined.”

This distribution was a testimony that generosity feeds more than bodies, it revives faith, restores dignity, and strengthens community bonds.

To our donors, your generosity made this possible. Every testimony, every tear of gratitude, and every song of thanksgiving is a reflection of the hope you’ve sown in Bukavu.

Together, we are not just distributing food, we are sowing hope.
