ALARM Rwanda Graduates 100 Women from 3-Year Leadership and Biblical Training Program

Kigali, Rwanda – August 2, 2025
African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries (ALARM) Rwanda proudly celebrated the graduation of 100 women who completed a comprehensive three year training program through the Women Leadership Training Institute (WLTI). The event took place in the premises of ALARM Business Center located at ALARM Rwanda’s headquarters in Kagugu Cell, Kinyinya Sector, Gasabo District, City of Kigali.
The WLTI program is designed to equip women with knowledge and skills in Biblical studies, servant leadership, Christian counseling, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and family development all grounded in Christian values. The overarching goal is to empower women to lead positive transformation in their families, churches and communities.
Empowering Women for Lasting Impac
In her keynote address, Madame Cécile Nyiramana, ALARM Rwanda Country Director, emphasized that the WLTI is a three-year initiative that certifies women leaders who are committed to peace, reconciliation, sustainable family and community development.
“Our aim is to develop women leaders who not only lead but also nurture peace, reconciliation, and transformation in their families and congregations,” she said.

Rev. Pastor Julie Kandema, Deputy Director of the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda (EPR), who delivered a powerful sermon during the ceremony, reminded graduates of their pivotal role in building strong, peaceful families as the foundation of a thriving nation.
“You are the cornerstone of your families. Use the knowledge you have gained to inspire positive change, uphold Christian and Rwandan values, and contribute to the unity and reconciliation efforts of our country,” she urged.
Appreciation for Government and Partners

Mrs. Corinne Gunter, Director of Rise Up Women International, a key partner of ALARM Rwanda, praised the Rwandan government for its commitment to empower women. She reaffirmed the organization’s dedication to supporting training initiatives like WLTI, which promote strong leadership and spiritual growth.
“We’ve been long-time partners with ALARM Rwanda because we believe that investing in women is the key to building stronger churches and a better Rwanda,” she stated.
Graduate Commitment to Serve Communities
Representing the graduates, Madame Uwimana Francine expressed deep gratitude to both the Rwandan government and ALARM Rwanda for empowering them through transformative training.
“We’ve learned about the Bible, leadership development, Christian counseling, trauma healing, conflict resolution, and women’s rights. We are committed to applying this knowledge to transform our families, communities, and the church,” she declared.
Local Leadership Endorses the Initiative

The guest of honor, Mr. Havuguziga Charles, Executive Secretary of Kinyinya Sector, commended ALARM Rwanda for its ongoing collaboration with local government structures. He challenged the graduates to begin by transforming their own homes and then extend their impact to the broader community.
“Today, we face growing challenges such as domestic conflict, teenage pregnancies, and drug abuse. You, as trained women leaders, are now well-equipped to help address these issues,” he stated.
“If 12 apostles changed the world, you the 100 trained women can certainly help transform Rwanda.”
