ALARM Rwanda Commemorates the 32nd Remembrance of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi

During the 100 days of remembrance of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, institutions across Rwanda are encouraged to dedicate time to honoring the victims and supporting survivors. In this spirit, on April 16, 2026, ALARM Rwanda joined Gasabo District and its partners in commemorating the 32nd remembrance of the Genocide against the Tutsi.

The joint action was organized in Kinyinya Sector, Gasabo District, and aimed at supporting genocide survivor families in need.

ALARM Rwanda donated 14 sacks of maize flour (Kawunga), each weighing 25 kilograms, making a total contribution of 350 kilograms. This initiative was carried out to provide comfort, solidarity, and hope to genocide survivors, reminding them that they are not alone.

ALARM Rwanda continues to stand with survivors through compassion, prayers, and shared resilience, encouraging them to remain strong and hopeful for a brighter future.

The commemoration event brought together representatives from different levels of leadership and partnership within Gasabo District, including local government authorities, police and military representatives, IBUKA leaders, and local and international partners operating in the district.
In their remarks, the district leadership and the IBUKA President expressed sincere appreciation to all partners for their continued support to genocide survivors. They emphasized that healing from the Genocide against the Tutsi is an ongoing journey that requires collective responsibility, unity, and sustained support from both government’s institutions and development partners.
