Training Centers

The Center for Leadership and Forgiveness (CLF)

The Center for Leadership and Forgiveness is ALARM’s regional training center in Kigali, Rwanda. Hosting events for leaders from Rwanda and eastern Congo, the Center can accommodate up to 100 guests with a dormitory, guest house, and dining hall.

Until now, most teaching at the Center has been taking place in a large outdoor gazebo. However, ALARM is expanding the campus with the construction of classrooms, conference rooms, and a library. The new buildings are expected to be ready by the summer of 2008.

The Christian Leadership Institute of Sudan (CLIS)

ALARM has not started its own seminary in Africa, but the Christian Leadership Institute of Sudan (CLIS) comes close. Located in Yei, Southern Sudan, CLIS provides high-level pastoral training for member denominations of the Sudan Evangelical Alliance. The program lasts for three years, with a group of 30 or more students meeting for one month of intensive classes each quarter. They graduate with an Advanced Diploma in Theology or Ministry, ready to serve the churches of Southern Sudan as ministers of reconciliation.

Offered in a regular cycle every three years, the classes at CLIS are taught by ALARM staff or credentialed international teams. If you are interested in learning more, please contact us for more information.

The Center for Leadership and Church Development (CLCD)

The Center for Leadership and Church Development (CLCD) meets three times per year at the ALARM compound in Lietnhom, Southern Sudan, The CLCD offers training at a more basic level than ALARM’s Christian Leadership Institute of Sudan. It is designed for local pastors, evangelists, and catechists in the Bahr Ghazar Region, helping them to reach their neighbors and serve the church in that region.

Centers Under Construction

ALARM is currently building Reconciliation House, an eleven-room guest house complete with kitchen, dining room, and internet cafe to accommodate CLCD trainers and provide facilities for other visitors serving this neglected region of southern Sudan.

In addition to ALARM’s existing training centers, the Center for Forgiveness and Reconciliation in Rwanda, the Christian Leadership Institute of Sudan, and the Center for Leadership and Church Development in southern Sudan, we are preparing to build additional facilities in Burundi, D. R. Congo, Tanzania, and Zambia. Land has been purchased and plans have been drawn. Building will commence as soon as sufficient funding is available.

Once built, these training centers will permit our African staff to train pastors and other leaders all year long. In addition, those centers will occasionally host outside events, helping to defray the cost of ALARM’s ongoing ministries. As a result, our staff will be less dependent on international support and better equipped to serve their communities.
