Wisdom Community School

The people of the Mwenye neighborhood in Ndola, Zambia, think of themselves as those who have been forgotten. Though they lack basic services, they have been providing for their families as best they can. Those who can afford it have been sending their children on a ten mile trek each day to attend school. When ALARM opened Wisdom Community School in Mwenye, it quickly filled beyond capacity. Forty-five children meet in a church building turned one room schoolhouse each morning. Their teacher remains through the afternoon, teaching literacy classes for young adults. Grateful Mwenye community leaders have dedicated themselves to the construction of a new school in partnership with ALARM. Watch for updates as building begins soon!

Linda Primary School

When children go to school in Lietnhom, Sudan, they are more likely to meet under a tree than in a building. Completing a project begun by another organization, ALARM recently finished the construction of Linda Primary School, providing 8 classrooms in a place where once there were none. Shortly thereafter, we began building Hope Secondary School. Why? Because there was no secondary school within a 50 mile radius.

Hope Secondary School

As funding allows, Hope Secondary School will soon be completed with the construction of two more classrooms, a library, a science lab, and an administration building. ALARM is seeking partners in this ongoing project.

Institute for Women's Excellence

Young people who have been orphaned by genocide or AIDS have no funds for school and little hope for the future. In Rwanda, ALARM’s Institute for Women’s Excellence provides young women with an education, teaching literacy and equipping them with marketable skills. They learn to sew, operate computers, and find employment.

With a new dormitory and dining hall enabling enrollment to expand to 150 resident students, the IWE is now adding a science building and a library to its campus. ALARM welcomes short-term and long-term missionaries to minister within the IWE community. In particular, teachers of English, math, sciences, athletics, Bible, and computer skills may have opportunity to serve under the supervision of the IWE staff.
